Before I start on Christmas, I just want to make a suggestion for browsing Locally. The website is designed to show what events are on on a daily basis. If you want to see what things are on in the future, click on Local Events and use the categories – music, dance, exhibitions etc. A list of future events will then come up for you to search through. I know this is self-evident but sometimes people don’t think about doing this!

Sadly the Rockbourne Fair has been and gone but it was amazing as usual and I managed to kick-start my present buying in style (including a few things for myself!). However, there are several other Christmas Fairs and Markets coming up in our Locally region!

One of which is the Salisbury Christmas Market which will be held in the Guildhall Square from 29 November – 16 December. It will be made up of at least 56 pretty, cosy wooden chalets beautifully decorated with white pea lights and festive swags, nestled among lots of twinkly real Christmas trees and the exhibitors are amongst the best in the country, selected for the high quality of their products.

Another Christmas exhibition coming up very soon is the ‘Inspire’ Exhibition at the Walford Mill, nr Wimborne from 3 November – 31 December . This will showcase a selection of handmade gift ideas made by individuals for individuals. These range from stocking fillers to collector’s pieces – textiles, glass, wood, ceramics, jewellery and more.

Today I went with my family to see the Landcape Photographer of the Year exhibition at Moors Valley Country Park. What wonderful work! – we have such breathtaking scenery in this country. After a cup of coffee we went on the Play Trail – our daughter (now 31) was reminiscing about the times she went there as a child – climbing on all the intricate wooden structures – snakepit, spider’s web, crocodile crossing etc.! Several new activities have sprung up in the last few years. There is now a ‘Go Ape’ Tree top assault course – brilliant for older children and well supervised.

Last week we had two good nights out – one was at The Bull Inn in Wimborne St Giles where we listened to a brilliant jazz band made up of two Americans (who had just got off the plane!) and musicians from different parts of Europe. Delicious canapés were handed round and several glasses of wine were consumed – a very enjoyable evening all round! This band will be back at The Bull next year I’m sure – watch this space!

On Friday night we went with friends to the RMDS (Ringwood Music and Drama Society ) Soiree, which was held at The Hub in Verwood in aid of Charity. This Society are very professional – they also put on a musical and a play (Calendar Girls next week but sadly sold out) every year. I highly recommend them so do try and get tickets to one of their shows. They also have a very accomplished choir.

On Wednesday we are off to see La Boheme at the Mayflower! in Southampton There is so much on in our Locally area! DON’T MISS OUT!

Back soon!
