  • Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with Christian Kluxen
    May 26th 7:30PM
    The Close
    Salisbury
    Dist: 0.62 mi

Following a sold-out Mahler 4 in at the Festival in 2013, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra returns to Salisbury to open the 2017 Festival under the baton of Danish conductor Christian Kluxen. Mendelssohn’s music for A Midsummer Night’s Dream, sprinkled in fairy dust and bathed in moonlight, sets the mood for Berlioz’s beautiful song-cycle for soprano, whilst Tchaikovsky’s Pathètique symphony is charged with orchestral drama and passion.

This event is taking place as part of Ageas Salisbury International Arts Festival.

  • I Fagiolini - Monteverdi: The Other Vespers
    June 2nd 7:30PM
    The Close
    Salisbury
    Dist: 0.62 mi

I Fagiolini and the English Cornett & Sackbut Ensemble perform together, as singers, cornetts and sackbuts, early baroque violins, theorbos and organ bring to life this ravishing music to mark the 450th anniversary of Monteverdi’s birth and I Fagiolini’s own 30th anniversary year.

In 1640, at the end of his life, Monteverdi published a collection of church music that hadn’t been contained in the ‘1610 Vespers’ collection so often performed these days.
